Background
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, formally known as the Great Spring Show, is a garden show held for five days in May by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in Chelsea, London.
For four weeks, I lived in London to assist Square’s UK Experiential Marketing team with several events. My main focus was to ensure the successful implementation of Square's flagship product, the Square Stand, at these events.
Specifically, I supported the All Points East festival, a concert by the band Stereophonics in Wrexham, Wales, and the Chelsea Flower Show. My role at the Chelsea Flower show was to create a flawless payments environment for show attendees, and ensure setup and support of the on-site team was successfully executed.
One of the challenges my team faced was working through poor onsite wifi and individual vendors wanting to update global cloud-based settings (this can cause major issues over a network of 100 cloud-based POS systems). There were a lot of pivots, implementing security and limited access measures to prevent any disruption to the customer’s payment experience.
Despite the challenges, the event was majorly successful, and it had an impressive 50% increase in GPV from the previous year before partnering with Square to process payments… sick!
I was proud to have been a part of the team that made this happen, and it was a great opportunity to work with Square's flagship product, and make a difference in the customer's payment experience.

In two days I trained the onsite team, led them through reprogramming iPads, uploading vendor menus and understanding security features.
